General Optometry

Dr. Kara Clark is a Baxley, Georgia native and new to our team. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berry College with a B.S. in Biology and went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. Upon graduation, she was chosen to receive the Society of Professional Optometrists of Georgia award. She is an active member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Georgia Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Clark completed her clinical training at Salem VA Medical Center, Southern College of Optometry, and Kapperman, White, and McGarvey Eyecare. During her training, she gained experience in treating ocular disease, fitting specialty contact lenses, and providing eye care to pediatric and special needs patients. She enjoys providing quality eye care to patients of all ages and backgrounds. Dr. Clark provides comprehensive eye exams with prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses, as well as treatment of various ocular conditions such as dry eye, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease.

She has a heart for missions and strives to bring light and hope into the lives of every patient that she encounters. She recently served and provided eye care to the people of Honduras and Jamaica, and she is thrilled to serve you with proficient, compassionate care.

In her free time, Dr. Clark enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing her violin, attending concerts and movies, traveling, and being involved in her church and Bible study.
Kathryn Johnson, O.D., F.A.A.O.

General Optometry

Dr. Johnson returned to her home of Dublin to begin her career in eyecare in 2011. She is board certified by the American Board of Optometry, a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry, and completed a residency in ocular disease at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. She manages ocular diseases, such as cataract, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye syndrome and glaucoma, and enjoys co-management of surgical eye care for patients of all ages. She also studied at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City and enjoys providing pediatric eye care. For patients with corneal eye disease, Dr. Johnson provides custom fitting for a wide variety of medical contact lenses, including scleral, and other hybrid and rigid gas permeable lenses. She is a member of the Georgia Optometry Board of Trustees. She enjoys her involvement in her local church choir and Dublin Service League.
Tom Hawkins, MD., F.A.A.O.

Tom Hawkins, M.D., F.A.A.O.


Dr. Hawkins grew up in South Carolina and graduated from West Florence High School, having lettered in tennis for three years. He attended Furman University in Greenville, SC, and graduated cum laude with a BS degree in Biology. Medical training was done at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine in Charleston, where he was very active in the leadership for Medical Campus Outreach and the Christian Medical and Dental Society. Dr. Hawkins was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society in his junior year, and he graduated in the top 5% of his class. After completing his internship in medicine at MUSC, he completed his surgical residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Oklahoma.


Following this, Dr. Hawkins served a commitment in the U.S. Air Force. Before his association with Davidson Eye Associates, he was chief of Ophthalmology and Refractive Surgery at Keesler Medical Center. Interests include refractive surgery, oculoplastics, cataract, and glaucoma management and surgery.

John G. Williams, M.D., O.D.

Cornea and External Disease

A native of McRae, GA, Dr. Williams completed a degree in optometry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and in medicine at the Medical College of Georgia, and then he continued in training with an ophthalmology residency at Baylor Scott & White in Temple, TX. In addition, he completed a two-year fellowship in Cornea and External Disease at St. Luke's Cataract Laser Institute in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Dr. Williams is a board-certified ophthalmologist, and he regularly performs corneal transplants, pterygium excision, as well as cataract surgery. His specialty includes management of severe dry eye syndrome, ulcerative keratitis, Fuchs Dystrophy and other corneal diseases. For more than 15 years, he has provided quality, compassionate care for the Middle Georgia area. Dr. Williams is active in youth sports and enjoys coaching basketball and soccer and is also very involved in his church. 
Randall Ozment, M.D.

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Ozment completed a medical degree at Emory University. He also completed a residency in Ophthalmology at Emory University and completed a fellowship in Glaucoma at Harvard University. He is a board-certified ophthalmologist and active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology. He specializes in glaucoma and related eye diseases of the optic nerve. Dr. Ozment has a level of training and experience that is rarely found outside large metropolitan centers. He performs cataract surgery, glaucoma procedures, and other microinvasive glaucoma surgeries. For more than 25 years, he has provided quality, compassionate care for the Middle Georgia area. He is a committed member of a local church, and he enjoys fishing and spending time with his grandchildren when not at the office serving patients.
Glen W. Smalley, M.D.

Dr. Smalley was born and raised in the hills of Tennessee. He moved to Middle Georgia and joined the Dublin Eye team in 1986. Specializing in age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, Dr. Smalley is a board-certified ophthalmologist and active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Medicine and completed his residency at the Hamilton Eye Institute in Memphis, TN. For over 30 years, he has served Middle Georgia, bringing the most advanced techniques and knowledge of retina treatment right here to Laurens County. He provides cataract surgery, retinal laser surgery and eye injections to reverse or delay vision loss. His community outreach includes involvement in his church, volunteering as a scout leader, and serving the less fortunate in underdeveloped countries by providing eye surgeries.
